The Citroen DS3 Racing was always a fast car. It is not a car that in anyway needed more power, but just for kicks what would happen if it were given 26 bhp more? That's what a company called Superchips wondered, the result is a 230 bhp hot hatchback. No joke this
The Citroen DS3 racing was already a very good hot hatchback and managed to be faster than most of its competitors. Now a company called Superchips Ltd has come up with an ECU remap that has pushed up power out put by 26 bhp over the 204 bhp. As a result of the upgrade the car will eclipse the 0-100 km/h time of 6.5 seconds and have a top speed higher than 234 km/h. Combine the 230 bhp power output of the car with its lightweight and one can see just how fast the Citroen DS3 Racing with the Superchips ECU remap is on the road.
For those of you who are not familiar with the Citroen DS3 racing, the car has been built to be a fast three door hatchback that has been setup as a driver’s car. The car comes with a 1.6 litre petrol engine that has a twin scroll turbocharger bolted to it, stiffened suspension and an Electronic Stability Program (ESP) adapted for sportier handling which can be disengaged altogether if the driver wants some side ways action.
Superchips have fiddled with the DS3 Racing’s Bosch Electronic Combustion unit (ECU) to produce more power across the powerband of the engine to make the car faster and more agile at all speeds along with enhanced in gear acceleration. The result is improved throttle response and more torque right from 2000 rpm all the way to the engine’s maximum spinning ability of 6750 rpm. The upgrade has been tested on a dyno and in the real world after which the car has been declared to be safe. To be honest a DS3 Racing driver does not exactly bother about safety and solely concentrates on the last word in the car’s name, but it’s good to see that the Superchip upgrade to the Citroen DS3 Racing comes with a one year/ 48,000 km warranty.
