Chevrolet India has announced the introduction of its 24x7 roadside assistance program from January 2014 to all new Chevrolet car owners. After a tainted 2013 due to the Tavera recalls and all the ensuing troubles at GM, the company is looking at regaining lost trust in the brand in the eyes of the customer. The roadside assistance program is one such initiative.
Keeping past mistakes aside, the roadside assistance program is definitely a major boost to improve ownership experience. Under the program, the company will provide support in the event of vehicle immobilization due to mechanical or electrical breakdown, road accident, battery drainage, fuel scarcity, tyre problems and locked/lost key amongst other on-road events. All the car owner has to do is call 1800-103-8090 (toll-free) or 0124-4388090.
While the charges of the service will be included in the vehicle cost for new car owners, existing Chevrolet customers can purchase the service at Rs 1,000 for one year and Rs 2,700 for three years under warranty.
“Customer is the most important facet of our business. With the launch of the roadside assistance program, we are taking the ownership experience a step further by ensuring complete peace of mind and comfort. The initiative includes special care for our customers in the event of vehicle immobilization such as free taxi provision and towing facility anywhere in India,” said P Balendran, Vice President, General Motors India.
Despite new car launches like the Sail hatchback and sedan, Enjoy MPV and updated Tavera, Chevrolet’s vehicle sales have slipped from sixth to eighth position among Indian car manufacturers in the past year. The Beat continues to be the manufacturer’s mainstay averaging over 2000 units per month followed by the Enjoy and Tavera.
