General Motors India has hiked new car prices of all Chevrolet vehicles on the market by 1 to 2 per cent depending on the model. The move comes in as a result of rising input costs, the depreciation of the Rupee and hike in freight charges. The hike will mean that prices of Chevrolet cars will go up by Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 12,000 depending on the model and variant of the car.

"Rupee depreciation in recent times has impacted us very badly. Besides, input costs and freight charges have also gone up. So, we have decided to pass on the burden partially to consumers," said, General Motors India Vice President P Balendran.

Chevrolet currently sells five cars in India, namely, the Chevrolet Spark, Beat, Tavera Neo 3, Cruze and Captiva. Prices of Chevy’s cars in India range from Rs. 3.15 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the entry-level Spark hatchback to Rs. 24.59 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the top-end Captiva SUV.
