Chevrolet Spark and Aveo U-VA models win in the most dependable compact car and premium compact car segments

Selling more than 8,000 cars a month on an average, General Motors owned Chevrolet brand of cars has spearheaded its penetration into the Indian automotive space, and having hit the century mark this year, the brand continues to produce great cars that serve their Indian customers well.

A recent survey by renowned customer satisfaction analysis firm J.D Power and Associates, was a testament to just that fact, as Chevy walked away once again with three of the top awards in the India Automotive Initial Quality Study (IQS) and the Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS) based on feedback from thousands of customers in 2010.

Chevy’s top selling model in India, the Spark won the Most Dependable Compact Car and was also recognized for the fourth consecutive year, as the Best Compact Car in Initial Quality. The Chevrolet Aveo U-VA hatch was also awarded the Most Dependable Car, but in the Premium Compact Car segment.

Commenting on the important win for Chevrolet, Mr. P Balendran, Vice-President, General Motors India said, “These prestigious wins from J D Power clearly reiterate that Chevrolet has become the preferred automobile brand in terms of quality, dependability and customer delight. These awards reinforce the strong focus we, as an organization, have towards providing end to end quality, in terms of design, parts, build, check, dispatch, sales and after sales service, to offer best-in-class products that meet and exceed customer expectations. We will continue to leverage the momentum gained thus far and build on the inherent strengths of our products in the future also.”

The 2010 India IQS, now in its fourteenth year, was based on evaluations from more than 7,000 owners from 20 cities across India who purchased a new vehicle between November 2009 and July 2010. It included 57 vehicle models covering 13 makes.

On the other hand, the Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS) was based on evaluations from 5,824 original owners from 20 cities across India, who bought new cars between July, 2006 and October, 2007, covering 46 models carrying 13 nameplates.
