CommentsCalled Activ Scooter, the low friction, 4-stroke engine oil is meant specifically for gearless scooters

Friction in the engine parts dissipates power by converting the energy to heat that also causes wear and tear leading to lower efficiency and engine degradation. Engine oil provides a film between surfaces of adjacent moving parts to minimise contact between them, decreasing heat caused by friction and reducing wear. Modern gearless scooter engines need low friction oils for optimum performance and need to be protected from high temperature as the engine is compact and enclosed. Engine oil for geared bikes is used in gearless scooters as well.
"Most consumers are not aware about the need for special engine oil for gearless scooters,” said Kedar Apte, Category Manager, two-wheeler oils, at Castrol.
Castrol claims that the special formulation of Castrol Activ Scooter with Scootek Technology reduces heat induced engine oil oxidation by 30 per cent and engine friction by 24 per cent, increasing engine efficiency and providing superior heat protection for critical engine components. This should translate into enhanced engine life, smoother engine running and consistent pick-up for longer periods of time.
An 800ml pack of Castrol Activ Scooter is available for Rs 245, in a new easy-pour pack with a pull-up spout that makes it convenient to pour the oil in the engine and eliminates wastage.
