Australian rider Casey Stoner has been signed by Ducati as their official test rider for the MotoGP team and also as the brand ambassador for the Italian manufacturer

Former MotoGP champion, Casey Stoner announced that he will take up the responsibility of official test rider for the Ducati MotoGP team. Stoner was currently under contract with Honda Racing Corporation and he also won his last championship with the Japanese team before leaving the sport in 2012 after which he was replaced by Marc Marquez. The Australian rider was associated with the Japanese manufacturer for five years, with two years of racing and won 15 races with them. The switch to Ducati really doesn’t come as a surprise, as the Australian rider still holds the record for the last win registered by the Italian outfit five years ago. It was Stoner, who helped Ducati win the MotoGP crown and despite Valentino Rossi replacing him (for two seasons) the Italian team hasn’t been able to replicate the same success since then.

Stoner has made it clear that he has no intentions to make a comeback to the sport but he always likes to ride the MotoGP motorcycles and the role of the test rider makes better sense for him. Stoner will also be the official brand ambassador for the Italian manufacturer which means we will now see him in the upcoming promotional events and videos. The main task on hand for the former MotoGP rider will be to improve the Desmosedici GP15 and turn it into a race winner. But many Stoner fans will be praying silently to see their champion ride the Ducati as a wildcard entry at Phillip Island in late 2016.
