KTM and Kawasaki announce price cuts owing to reduction in excise duty

Its glad tidings for prospective KTM and Kawasaki owners as both the companies have announced a price cut in their respective product portfolio. This reduction in pricing has come into effect after Finance Minister, P Chidambaram recently announced reduction in excise duty in the Interim Budget 2014. The excise duty has been slashed from the previous 12 per cent to current eight percent and is applicable on small car, motorcycles, scooter and commercial vehicles.

This cutback on duty will be effective only till June 30, 2014. It is interesting to note, that the price of the KTM 390 Duke was hiked by Rs 6,000 in December last year and now it’s back to its launch price of Rs 1.8 lakh. Pricing of the Austrian brand has been reduced between Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,000, while Kawasaki has slashed the pricing of its bikes by Rs 8,000 to 12,000. So if you were planning to buy a motorcycle from the above mentioned brands, this is the ideal time to take the plunge.
