BMW X5M and X6M launch on October 15

BMW will launch the X5M and X6M on October 15, taking on the ML63 and GL63 AMG SUVs from Mercedes-Benz. Both the X5M and X6M are the first high performance BMW M division SUVs to come to India and will cost upwards of Rs 1.5 crore catering to the luxury SUV car buyer that seeks high performance from these SUVs as well. Both will be sold as CBUs and will be part of the growing lineup of M cars in India. 

The X5M is classified by BMW as a Sports Activity Vehicle while the X6M is called a Sports Activity Coupe. But tread firmly in the SUV space with their high ground clearance and all-wheel-drive set ups. Under the hood is the same 4.4-litre twin turbo V8 petrol engine that powers the M5 sedan and M6 Gran Coupe. In the X5M and X6M, they develop 575PS of power at 6000rpm and a colossal 750Nm of torque from 2200rpm to 5000rpm. Thanks to power sent to all four wheels, both cars gallop at a blisteringly quick pace. 0-100kmph comes in a scant 4.2 seconds and top speed is limited to 250kmph.

The BMW X5M and X6M come with dynamic electronically adjustable dampers and self leveling air suspension in the rear. Both cars come with a choice of 20 inch standard or 21 inch optional wheels. Pirelli P Zero stock tyres on the 20 inch rims and Michelin Piliot Super Sport sets on the 21 inchers add to the levels of all-wheel drive grip. Like the suspension, the steering can be set up in comfort, sport and sport+ modes to alter performance from these behemoths. 

Muscular design and squat stance aside, the X5M and X6M come with race track developed oil and cooling systems to offer high levels of performance under extreme loads.
