Scania launches all new trucks at Bauma ConExpo 2014

The commercial vehicle manufacturer displayed the all-new Scania R 580 V8 Truck and Scania P410 Tipper with 20 cum rock body at the CV show in New Delhi

Scania R 580 6x4 comes with a powerful V8 engine

Premium commercial vehicles manufacturer, Scania Commercial Vehicles India Pvt. Ltd. launched what is said to be the most powerful on-road truck in India, the Scania R 580 V8 (6x4) truck, along with Scania P410 (8X4) Tipper with all-new 20 cubic meter SSAB body at the ongoing Bauma ConExpo 2014. At the expo Scania the company also introduced Scania Oil and enhanced telematics services – Scania Fleet Management. On display are also two mobile workshops showing Scania´s flexible container concept for services and repairs in remote places.

Speaking at the Expo, Anders Grundströmer, Managing Director, Scania India and Senior Vice President, Scania Group said, “This season of Bauma Expo is very significant to Scania as we are launching India’s most powerful on-road Truck R 580 powered with V8 engine, and in addition we are also updating our product portfolio with Scania P410 Tipper equipped with all new 20 cubic meter SSAB body to withstand the toughest mining conditions.”

Making a debut in India the Scania R 580 6x4 comes with a powerful V8 engine which offer high torque at low speed, essential for over-dimensional cargo (ODC) transport. The Scania V8 engine is claimed to offer good drivability, low Total Operating Economy and refined vehicle handling. 

Scania P 410 8x4 Tipper with 20 cubic meter rock body

While the Scania P 410 8x4 Tipper is an existing product which will now be equipped with 20 cubic meter rock body developed by one of the world’s leading producer of high strength steel, SSAB. The Scania P410 Tipper is popular in the Indian mining sector and comes equipped with Scania Opticruise, a fully automated gear-changing system for enhanced fuel efficiency and ease of driving. It will now also come with an option of Idle Shutdown which is similar to the start-stop-technology seen on cars, which further improves fuel economy. The company claims that the tipper is significantly lower in weight than current offerings in the market, and with the increased load carrying capacity the customer gets significantly higher productivity. 

Coming to the Scania Oil, which is available both as engine oil as well as axle and gear oil. According to Scania the oil prevents from sludge and adherence and protects from corrosion and wear, all leading to longer service intervals.  

These new products and services are showcased at the Bauma Conexpo Show, which is an international Trade Fair for Construction Machinery, Building Material Machines, Mining Machines and Construction Vehicles that is being held from December 15 to 18, 2014 at the India Expo Centre in Greater Noida near Delhi.
