BMW Motorrad's next streetfighter could be powered by the K 1600 GT's inline 6-cylinder engine that boasts 162PS of power

German motorcycle manufacturer BMW Motorrad is said to be working on an all new naked motorcycle powered by its inline 6-cylinder motor that currently powers its high capacity tourer, the K 1600 GT. The new motorcycle has been rendered as a streetfighter and will reportedly produce over 160PS of power.

The rendered image indicates how this all new bike might turn out to be, and as seen here, the motorcycle looks really compact. An aggressive looking face with twin projector lamps, a retro speedometer housing and of course the 6 tailpipes sticking out make for a mean looking motorcycle.

The bike could be called the K 1600 R and unlike the GT, it may use the chassis from the current the S 1000 R and S 1000 RR, the latter being the German manufacturer's flagship superbike.

Coming to the motor, it is expected to produce 162PS of power and a peak torque of 175Nm, both of which are the figures of the K 1600 GT. The engine is also expected to use its current oil-cooling system just like the tourer as well.

BMW’s inline-6 has received tremendous praise all over the world, as the very same engine has been employed by BMW in cars like the M3 and M4 currently apart from legendary cars like the E36 M3, which changed BMW’s luck forever. The motor is praised for its smooth operation and a characteristic exhaust note.

BMW Motorrad made a big splash at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi, formally announcing plans to enter the burgeoning high capacity two wheeler market in the country by the end of 2016. While the final product line-up for India has not been confirmed yet, we can certainly hope that whenever the motorcycle in question here is launched internationally, Motorrad brings it to India as well.
