BharatBenz rolls out its 25-tonne Rigid truck manufactured at its spanking new Oragadam facility

BharatBenz has kicked off production in India with the rollout of its 25-tonne Rigid truck from its Oragadam plant in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
The BharatBenz brand was launched in India in 2011, under Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) which is a subsidiary of truck major Daimler AG. BharatBenz carried out its product Premier at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo. In April 2012 the company inaugurated its Oragadam manufacturing facility.
DICV aims to offer value-for-money trucks that will deliver top notch performance, reliability and fuel efficiency. The first product scheduled for a market launch from BharatBenz is the 2523 Heavy Duty Truck (HDT) with 233PS of power, based on the Mercedes-Benz Axor platform. DICV aims to launch the vehicle in September 2012.

Marc Llistosella, Managing Director & CEO, DICV, said, “The fact that today’s launch of production sets another milestone only a few weeks after the plant opening reiterates that our project is well underway. It is a proud moment for us again today to see the fructification of the team’s work over the last few years.”
In its first phase of operations BharatBenz will be operating a sales and service network of 70 dealerships across the country.
