Honda will be the fifth manufacturer to have a dealership in the island territories opening up a new audience for its products

Honda Mobilio

The Andaman and Nicobar island territories of India are pretty well insulated from the hustle and bustle of the mainland. With almost negligible contact and transport facilities during the monsoon months, the islands have not developed as much as many other areas of the country. The automotive industry too doesn’t give much importance to the islands and only Mahindra, Maruti, Hyundai and Tata motors have a dealership there, which in turn restricts the choices that locals have for new cars.

Honda will soon launch its first new dealership in Port Blair which will sell Honda’s entire portfolio of cars. The popular City and Mobilio combined with the likes of the Brio and Amaze will be offered to the public. The upcoming Jazz too will eventually make its way to the Andaman and Nicobar islands when it gets launched mid next year.

Honda City

Although the Mobilio, Amaze and City are all available with diesel engine options, we think the petrol engined cars will be more popular since petrol prices are relatively lower in the Island territories. Petrol for instance costs about Rs 14 cheaper per litre than what it costs in Mumbai. Petrol will also be a more popular option since the initial buying costs are much lower and distances between destinations are also much smaller.
