The new smaller SUV will slot below the Bentayga while the new sportscar will go up against the net generation Aston-Martins and other GT sportscars.

New Bentley SUV and sportscar

Bentley has officially announced that they are working on a new smaller SUV that will sit below the recently launched Bentayga. The new SUV will essentially share the platform with the likes of the Audi Q7 and the Porsche Cayenne along with the next generation Volkswagen Touareg. The new Bentley SUV should be displayed sometime in 2017 as a concept form and will see production in 2018.

The new Bentley SUV though will be nowhere near as large as the Bentayga as it will target the younger customer instead. The new SUV will be larger than the likes of the Macan but will be smaller than the Cayenne or Q7 and will be a 5-seater or 4-seater. The new car is expected to priced at about £120,000 (about Rs 1.2 crores) in the United Kingdom. Expect prices to be much higher when it finally comes to India.

In terms of powerplants, the smaller SUV is expected to get the V8 turbocharged petrol and diesel engines along with a hybrid setup. The new 6.0-litre twin turbo W12 engine might also feature as a range topping ‘Speed’ version. Expect power figures to go as high as 600PS!! The new Bentley SUV will also be high both in terms of interior fit and finish as is expected from a brand like Bentley.

On the other hand, the new small sports car, a production version of the EXP 10 Speed 6 Concept is expected to make it to the market by 2020. The new car will get Audi’s 4.0-litre V8 that makes an appearance in the RS variants. The car could get about 550-600PS of peak power and will take the fight to the likes of other GT sportscars like the next generation Aston Martins and even the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT. The car will also go up against the likes of the Ferrari California albeit in a convertible form. There will also an all-electric version with close to 500PS of peak power and a 500km range. All in all, the new sportscar will have a long list of firsts for a traditional company like Bentley.
