After a prolonged delay, Bajaj Auto is finally set to launch the faired version of the Bajaj Pulsar 200NS in the Indian two-wheeler market. But it wouldn’t be marketed as the Pulsar 200SS in India and will be renamed as the Bajaj Pulsar RS200. Bajaj also released a teaser image on its official website announcing the new name for the upcoming motorcycle. Bajaj hasn’t revealed the launch date yet but we expect it to happen by end of March or early April. Few Bajaj dealers have started accepting booking for the Bajaj Pulsar RS200 at Rs 5,000. The Bajaj Pulsar RS200 will be the fastest motorcycle offering from the Chakan based two-wheeler manufacturer. Pricing for the bike hasn’t been disclosed yet but we speculate it to be around Rs 1.1 to 1.2 lakh given Bajaj’s aggressive pricing history.
Powering the Bajaj Pulsar RS200 will be the same 199.5cc powerplant as found on the 200NS. What sets apart the Pulsar RS200 motor is the fact that it will be fuel-injected unlike the carburetted motor as seen on the Pulsar 200NS. Fuel-injection should result in crisper throttle response and avoid cold starting problems alongwith hiking the power output marginally. Power is transmitted to the rear-wheel via a six-speed gearbox. The frame, suspension and brakes on the Pulsar RS200 will be borrowed from the Pulsar 200NS as it is. But it is expected that the Bajaj Pulsar RS200 will be the first motorcycle from its stable to offer ABS as an optional extra.
