Bajaj Exports touch magical 1 million mark

Exports at Bajaj Auto have become the new "Million Dollar Babies"

On Monday, it was announced that for the current FY, Bajaj Auto crossed an all time high of 1 million exports. International business has already clocked a growth of 35% in volume terms. The company expects to close the year with exports of 1.2 million units and 1 billion USD in revenue.

Over the years, Bajaj Auto has made a successful transition, from being a scooter producing company to a predominantly motorcycle producing one. Commercial vehicle exports have gone up three times, and motorcycle exports six times, in the last five years. 

Flagship products such as Pulsar, Discover and the Boxer are class leaders on a segment-leading growth path. Newly launched Pulsar 135 LS and Discover 150 have also been recent successes. Bajaj Auto enjoys a diversified market base and is present in over 36 countries, including emerging markets like Africa (50%), Asia (34%) and Latin America (15%) regions. 

Some previous milestones

1970- 100,000th vehicle rolled out 1977

1986- 500,000 vehicles in a single year

1995- 1 million vehicles sold in a year

1998- Bajaj Spirit- India’s first four-stroke scooter

2001- Launch of Bajaj Pulsar- changed the dynamics of motorcycling in India

Also noteworthy achievements for Bajaj Auto are:

• 2010- August- An all time high monthly sales of 3.29 lakh vehicles, as opposed to 2.13 lakh vehicles last year (55% increase)

• Three wheeler segment recorded its highest sales ever with a growth of 34%  from August 2009 (30,021 units) to August 2010 (40,188 units)
