Bajaj Auto will launch the most expensive and technologically advanced 100cc bike in its segment by January 2013

Bajaj Auto President (Motorcycles) K Srinivas let a bombshell on its rival by informing reporters that they will be launching a new 100cc bike. The bike will be launched most probably by January next year a company official said. According to Srinivas, the bike would be the most expensive in its segment and also the most technologically advanced 100c bike to be launched in our country. It is speculated that the bike will have goodies like 4-valve, DTSi(Digital Twin Spark Ignition) technology, digital instrumentation, mono-shock suspension at the rear and disc brakes at front which are unheard of in this segment.

Currently Bajaj has two bikes in its 100cc portfolio which are the Discover range and the Platina. Both the bikes are priced currently between Rs 39,000 and 45,000. Bajaj is giving more impetus to this segment since the success it has achieved with the Discover. The company had claimed in September that its Discover model had overtaken Hero MotoCorp's Splendour as the world's largest selling motorcycle, with sales of 1.22 lakh against Splendour's 1.21 lakh. 

This new launch will be very important for the Pune based company since Honda is close on its heels for the No.2 spot. The company has registered an increase in growth despite a minus one per growth in the industry; currently it has 27 percent of the market share.
