Audi is starting the New Year on a positive note, increase its year-on-year global deliveries by 4 percent in January 2016

Parent company Volkswagen might still be recovering from the huge blow dealt to it by the emissions scandal, but Audi AG is starting the New Year stronger than ever. VW’s luxury arm followed its record-breaking 2015 sales with a 4 percent increase in its year-on-year global deliveries in January 2016.

This uptick in Audi’s sales figures can largely be attributed to its home region of Europe, where sales have increased by 6.5 percent to around 59,900 cars. Audi’s SUV models once again proved to be its global growth drivers. The cumulative sales of the Audi Q3, Q5 and Q7 of around 46,350 units was 20.3 percent above the previous year’s figure.

“We started the New Year at a good pace and delivered more cars than ever before in a January,” says Dietmar Voggenreiter, Member of the Board of Management for Sales and Marketing at Audi AG. “We have gained new customers in the Americas, Europe and Asia. That shows how balanced our growth strategy is.”

In the Americas, the brand with the four rings delivered around 16,600 units in January, 2.5 percent more than one year previously. Audi achieved its strongest growth in the region in Mexico, with sales up 9.8 percent to 1,178 cars. Despite the onset of a severe winter, which stifled growth in the United States over the past month, Audi of America still managed to exceed its record-breaking start to the previous year once again: up 2.7 percent to 11,850 units sold. Deliveries of the   full-size SUV in the U.S. market increased by 165.5 percent to 2,336 units.

Audi haven’t revealed their sales figures in India for the month of January 2015 but, if the reception it got at the just-concluded 2016 Auto Expo is anything to go by, it has a lot of positive stuff to look forward to in this coming year. The company launched its top-of-the-line ultra-secure A8 L Security sedan at the Expo, priced at a staggering Rs 9.15 crores.
