Audi releases sketches of Q4 SUV before official debut at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show

Audi Q4 Crossover Concept sketch

Audi has released a couple of sketch of its latest SUV as a teaser before the official unveiling of the concept at the Beijing Auto Show scheduled in the last week of April. The sketches reveal a coupe-like silhouette of a sporty crossover, but further details are being kept under wraps till it debuts at the Chinese motor show.

Going by recent reports on the Ingolstadt car maker, this could be the all-new Audi Q4 crossover which will take on the likes of Porsche Macan, BMW X4 and the trend setting Range Rover Evoque. According to the official sketches, the concept follows Audi’s new design language, which is also seen on the Audi Allroad Shooting Brake Concept displayed earlier this year at the Detroit Motor Show. The major difference between the two concepts is that the crossover to be unveiled at Beijing will have five doors suiting to Asian needs, compared to three-door Shooting Brake Concept.

The sketch shows an aggressively styled crossover with a high shoulder-line, chunky front grille flanked by a pair of sleek LED headlights, flared air intakes on the front bumper and a clamshell bonnet. The side profile has coupe-ish sharply sloping roofline and muscular wheel-arches. Sporty twin exhausts accentuated in chrome and a narrow rear screen complete the sharp styling of the concept. The two extra doors on the Beijing concept helps carve out four individual rear seats. The interior appears to be very similar to the new 2015 Audi TT and the Shooting Brake Concept.

Overall the design looks impressive and makes a strong case for Audi’s new offering, but expect the actual car to be less edgy than what’s visible in the sketches. We hope to have more information on the new crossover close to its unveiling later this month.
