Alfa Romeo 4C Spider revealed

The Alfa Romeo 4C Spider had won hearts all over the world when it was displayed at the Detroit Auto Show back in January this year. Two months down the line, the Italian carmaker, has chosen the Geneva podium to showcase the  4C Spider in European specification.

The 4C Spider has a kerb weight of 895kg and is built around an ultra-lightweight monocoque chassis. The Italian carmaker states that the use of carbon fibre rollover bars and a lightweight canvas roof, has made the Spider only 60kg heavier than the hardtop.

Also on option is a new Akrapovic exhaust system, built from titanium and carbon, which now features an active valve which can be turned on or off at the touch of a button.

The Alfa Romeo 4C Spider distinguishes itself from the coupe in a few ways. Apart from the canvas roof, the car receives updated headlamps, and unique alloy wheels milled from a single piece of aluminum.

Just like the coupe, the 4C Spider comes equipped with a 1.75-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine churning out 237PS of power and 350Nm which is transferred to the rear wheels via a twin-clutch transmission. The car sprints from 0-100kmph in less than 4.5 seconds before reaching a top-speed of 258kmph.

The  Alfa Romeo 4C Spider will go on sale in the European market this year with a price tag of Rs 56.37 lakh.
