Audi India Q1 2011 sales crosses 2010 half year sales mark

Records sale of 1611 cars from January - March 2011, with strongest sales of 681 cars coming in the month of March alone

The launch of Audi’s new breathtaking R8 Spyder and the Q5 2.0 TDI is a telling sign of Audi’s plan to continue aggressively expanding in India. With six state-of-the-art showrooms based on its spectacular terminal design concept spread across the country’s most influential cities, the largest one being a lavish 30,000 sq ft setup in Delhi, the German car maker is pushing ahead in India’s luxury car segment and the number are here for everyone to see.



Between January to March 2011, Audi India has managed to sell an impressive 1,611 cars and continues its positive growth trajectory with a growth of 107 per cent for this quarter (Jan-March 2010: 778 cars).



Sales for the first quarter exceeded 50 per cent of the total number of cars sold last year (Jan – Dec 2010: 3003 cars). Sales figures for the month of March 2011 alone stood at 681 cars, an impressive growth of 210 per cent (220 cars in March 2010).

 
Putting Audi’s growth strategy for India into perspective, Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India, said, “Having already exceeded half of last year’s sales in a single quarter, we are confident of being well on our way to ensure that 2011 is the most successful year for Audi India. Our focus on reinforcing our dealer network across India, coupled with our endeavor to continually enhance the Audi ownership experience, has helped us achieve leadership in the luxury automotive market.”



Audi has already opened showrooms in Delhi, Mumbai West, Kolkata, Jaipur and Chennai, with Ludhiana to follow soon. Audi India will continue to focus on strengthening its dealer network across India.
