Building on the long term commitment with China, British sports car maker, Aston Martin unveiled three hand crafted limited edition Dragon 88 models at the 2012 Beijing International Auto Show. Each of the Special Edition cars feature bespoke details of the dragon symbol. 24-carat gold is applied to the signature Aston Martin wing badges on each car finished in one of three special colours selected in sync with traditional Chinese art and imagery.

“The stunning Dragon 88 sports cars – hand-built by our world class craftspeople in England – reflect the design flair and technical excellence of the luxurious Aston Martin brand. I am very happy to present these iconic cars on the world stage here in Beijing, and I and my staff look forward discussing them with visitors to the exhibition. This is the first time we have participated in a major automotive show in China since our wholly-owned subsidiary, Aston Martin Lagonda (China) Automobile Distribution Co. Ltd. became our general distributor,” said Dr. Ulrich Bez, CEO of Aston Martin.

Investing significantly in the Chinese automobile market, the marquee also introduced its bespoke programme – ‘Q by Aston Martin’ that was showcased by a four door, custom-made Rapide, along with the announcement of opening eleven new dealerships by end 2012. For the Beijing Auto Show, the company borrowed its inspiration from the ming dynasty for the four door custom. Ming Blue paint, ‘glacial’ wings and side streaks, walnut wooden boot and door inserts, falcon grey and metallic bronze leather and Ming-inspired seat embroidery are all unique for this car. To offer an insight into Aston’s VH (Vertical-Horizontal) architecture, a DBS cutaway model has been created as well.

The Gaydon based sports car manufacturer has been in the Chinese automotive market since 2007 and the Dragon 88 model is another step forward to the company’s long term association with Chinese customers.
