Aprilia unveiled the new SR 150 scooter for the Indian market at the 2016 Auto Expo. At the auto show, the Italian two-wheeler giant didn’t divulge details regarding the scooter’s pricing or launch date. But from our sources we have found that the new Aprilia SR 150 scooter will be launched in August, 2016. Being a premium 150cc scooter, the Aprilia scooter will be priced around Rs 80,000 to Rs 1 lakh ex-showroom in the Indian market. It will be the first Aprilia offering to be built in India and will be manufactured at the Baramati plant of parent company Piaggio in Maharashtra.
Talking about styling, the Aprilia SR 150 has a European design language which is edgy and contemporary. The sporty styling should make the SR 150 scooter a hit among the youngsters. The beaky front apron has the headlight embedded into it while the turn indicators have been placed on the handle bar. The beefy telescopic forks and the large 14-inch diameter wheels do give the scooter an aggressive stance which should help it standout from its rivals. The instrument console is a rather simple affair with a twin pod analogue unit for speedometer, fuel gauge and odometer alongwith various tell tale lights.
The SR 150 will be powered by a 150cc SOHC air-cooled four-stroke engine with power and torque to match the best in class. The scooter employs telescopic front forks and monoshock unit at the back to handle suspension duties. The scooter runs on 14-inch dia wheels that get wrapped around with 120/70 section tyres on both the wheels. The Aprilia SR 150 has a fuel tank capacity of 7 litres while seat height is 775mm. Braking is done by 220mm disc brake at front and 140mm drum brake at the rear.
