Volvo has continued with its successful journey in the country by delivering 80 new Volvo 8400 city buses to APSRTC. With this order, Volvo’s city buses now operate across 16 cities in the country starting this June with Pondicherry, Solapur, Kolkata, Navi Mumbai and Thane.
Volvo has also received first time orders from Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Transport, Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Transport and Assam State Transport Corporation for its city buses. Besides these, the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation has placed a repeat order to procure Volvo city buses.
Volvo Buses was the first player to begin delivery of city buses under the Urban Bus Specifications II scheme. The Volvo 8400 City bus has been designed to meet these requirements and was developed locally in collaboration with global team.
Since its inception, Volvo has also been conducting training programmes for drivers of its customers as well as from the open market. The company’s objective is to enhance the bus travel experience for people and also to improve the quality of driving on Indian roads.
