The latest iteration of the iconic cafe racer has hit the Indian roads priced at Rs 10.9 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi)

Triumph Motorcycles has expanded its new-generation Bonneville family in India by launching the Thruxton R at Rs 10.9 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The new cafe racer motorcycle was first showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo earlier this year; it was among the most beautiful bikes on display at the automotive event. The bike's styling is typical to any cafe racer but it is the details that help make the motorcycle standout. The bar-end style mirrors, Monza-style fuel-filler cap, curvy fuel tank, beefy gold finish USD forks and spoke wheels give it an aura of exclusivity.  Also Read: 2016 Triumph Thruxton R Review


Talking about mechanical details, the 2016 Triumph Thruxton R is powered by a 1,200cc displacement parallel-twin motor generating 98PS of power at 6,750rpm and peak torque of 112Nm at 4,950 rpm. The powerplant is mated to a 6-speed transmission. The new 1,200cc motor according to the British bikemaker has been tuned for better torque and it delivers 62 per cent more torque than its predecessor. Despite the jump in power, fuel efficiency has also been improved by 11 per cent while the service interval for the motorcycle stands at 16,000km. It also gets goodies like ride-by-wire technology and three riding modes - Road, Rain and Sport. The traction control system is switchable and there is also provision for a USB charger. For further customisation, the motorcycle will be offered with three optional body kits - cafe racer, performance race and track racer kit. Apart from the above over 160 official accessories will be offered to customise the new Triumph Thruxton R.

2016 Triumph Thruxton R action

Being the ‘R’ model, it gets equipped with top shelf cycle parts like Brembo monobloc brakes and Ohlins suspension system. Also, the steering geometry has been reworked to improve the handling dynamics of the motorcycle. The 2016 Triumph Thruxton R will be produced in Thailand and assembled in India. The bike is available in two colour options - Diablo Red and Silver Ice. Other new generation Bonneville models that are on sale in the Indian market include the Triumph Street Twin and Triumph Bonneville T120 Black. At the launch it was also announced that Triumph will be offering a customised version of the Street Twin christened the Brat Tracker and it will be available at all dealerships across the country with dealer warranty being offered on it.
