The heavily camouflaged 2016 Toyota Innova on test doesn’t reveal much of the key changes but overall it looks longer than the current generation Innova. The next generation 2016 Toyota Innova is expected to be built on an all-new platform and is likely to get newly redesigned twin-slat front grille, projector headlights and new taillights as well

2016 Toyota Innova caught testing near Mysore

Spyshots and even a video of a camouflaged 2016 Toyota Innova undergoing testing near Mysore has emerged on the Internet.

Toyota is likely to stop production of the current generation Innova over the next three-four months, building up to the launch of the upgraded 2016 model.

Overall, the new Innova’s shape looks similar to the current Innova but looks slightly longer than the current generation model, hopefully making for more interior room, particularly in the third row. The heavily camouflaged Innova on test doesn’t reveal much of the features on the outside or any key changes though.

The 2016 Toyota Innova is expected to be built on an all-new platform and is likely to get newly redesigned twin-slat front grille, projector headlights and new taillights as well.

The interiors are also likely to see a total revamp, with the dashboard likely to derive a few components from the recently unveiled 2016 Toyota Fortuner.  Going by the upgraded safety features on the 2016 Fortuner, Toyota could also add several safety features on the new Innova, like seven airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC) and Vehicle Stability Management (VSM).

The 2016 Toyota Innova is also likely to get the new GD series diesel engines that have been incorporated in the HiLux and new Fortuner, paired to six-speed manual and automatic transmission systems. Unlike the 2016 Fortuner and HiLux Revo in international markets, which were introduced with two engine options – 2.4 and 2.8 litres – in India, the Innova will likely be launched with just the smaller 2.4 litre diesel engine.
