Set to mark its entry into India next year, Skoda has already begun testing of its popular luxury sedan, Superb on Indian shores. While there is still some time before it makes its Indian debut at the 2016 Auto Expo next year, a test mule was recently spotted being driven around in Pune.

The 2016 Skoda Superb looks aggressive thanks to sharp creases all around the car. The sharp cuts on the bonnet are complimented by two neatly laid out character lines. In line with its new design language, the new Skoda Superb too gets a butterfly grille up front and on either side of it are the Bi-Xenon headlights with Daytime Running Lights. In profile and at the back too the edgy design continues well.

The new Superb is based on Skoda’s new MQB platform thanks to which it now has a wheelbase that is 80mm longer, but at the same time it has shred 75kg. The larger wheelbase has also resulted in more space on the inside. As far as equipment is concerned, the Superb will come with all the bells and whistles. It gets a three-zone climate control, parking assist with camera, Panoramic sunroof, eight airbags and more.

As far as the engine options are concerned, the 2016 Skoda Superb will be offered with both petrol and Diesel engine options, both with direct injection and turbocharger. In India it will be offered with a 1.8-litre petrol unit and Volkswagen’s 2.0-litre unit that works force on a lot of their cars.

In India the Skoda Superb will go against the likes of the upcoming Volkswagen Passat, Toyota Camry and the Honda Accord. For the new 2016 Skoda Superb, expect an increase in price of around 5-7 per cent with the top-end variant’s price going close to the Rs 30 lakh marker.
