Mitsubishi has pulled the wraps off its new 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV facelift at the 2015 New York Auto Show. The refreshed 2016 Outlander borrows its design cues from the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Concept-S that was revealed at the Paris Motor Show last year.

The refreshed Outlander receives ‘100 engineering and design improvements’ according to the Japanese carmaker. This SUV receives prominent grille flanked by sleek headlamps. The 2016 Outlander rides on diamond cut alloy wheels. Tail lamps featuring red graphics and a redesigned bumper integrating the fog lamps complete the rear end look of this car.

Inside, the 2016 Outlander facelift receives new electric steering wheel, new trim, new infotainment system and a new auto-dimming rear-view mirror with Homelink. The car also gets improved seats with better upholstery.

Safety features on this refreshed SUV include Forward Collision Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). In an attempt to reduce the NVH levels, the automaker has used the reinforced chassis along with tweaked suspensions.

The carmaker hasn’t revealed the engine specifications of the car, but apart from a plug-in hybrid, power to this refreshed SUV is expected to come from the 2.0-litre and 2.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engines.

Mitusbishi had discontinued the Outlander in India a few months ago. But, reports suggest that Hindustan Motors, the Indian partner of the Japanese carmaker, is planning to launch the petrol variant of the Outlander in the country later this year. The diesel variant is also speculated to reach the Indian shores next year.
