The new 2016 Jaguar XF has been unveiled offering an all new exterior with design cues from the smaller XE and the F-Type sportscar.

The original XF's sleek exterior and luxurious interior made it a desirable, aspirational vehicle. Now, Jaguar has launched an all-new version of the XF which aims at boosting the appeal and of course sales of the car to a new level. Featuring a dramatic high wire crossing stunt that saw the XF cross the river in London’s business district, the XF will essentially go up against the Mercedes E-Class, the Audi A6 and the BMW 5 Series in India.

The new Jaguar XF is built mainly out of aluminium making it 190kg lighter than the outgoing model with an added 28 percent stiffness in the body shell. Though 7mm shorter and 3mm lower than the car it replaces, the all-new XF's 2960mm wheelbase is 51mm longer, enabling a claimed class-leading rear seat space with more legroom, kneeroom and headroom. The front features a design language that seems to be derived from the XE sedan with a sharper and more aggressive design combined with a large grille and big air intakes in the bumper. Around the back, the XE inspired language continues with large horizontal tail lamps with lighting elements that have been inspirited from the F-type.

The all-new Jaguar XF’s engine range complements the efficiency gains inherent in the lightweight aluminium construction. The 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engines are available in 163PS of peak power and 380Nm of peak torque and 180PS of peak power and 430Nm of peak torque depending on the state of tune that is offered to customers. There will also be a 3.0-litre V6 diesel with 300PS and 700Nm and a petrol engine of similar displacement making 380Ps and 450Nm from its supercharged motor.

Speaking on the occasion, Ian Callum, Director of Jaguar Design, said, “In creating the all-new XF, as a design team we have been driven by discipline, the discipline of simplicity Every exterior line on the XF has a clear purpose - nothing is superfluous. Achieving that simplicity takes time and requires great determination; it's all too easy to add lines to a car, but much harder to add character by leaving lines out. Inside too, we have been driven by the desire to ensure the XF's cabin is as comforting as it is comfortable. New technology, including our new 10.2-inch touchscreen, is combined carefully with materials that cosset and reassure. The all-new XF has a clear sense of calm and strength, both outside and inside - and I'm proud of my team for delivering that."
