Japanese magazine Young Machine has released a rendered image of the next generation Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade superbike which is expected to make its debut by late 2016

2016 Honda CBR1000RR

The litre-class superbike segment has seen lots of action in the form of the new Yamaha R1, BMW S1000RR and the Kawasaki Ninja H2. Among all these developments, one of the most popular litre class superbikes on sale has been a mute spectator. Yes, we are talking about the Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade. But that is about to change soon as according to Japan based Young Machine magazine a replacement for the ageing bike is on cards in 2016. This doesn’t really come as a surprise as the last major overhaul the Fireblade received was in 2008 and since then the level of competition has gone up significantly. From the rendered image, we can make out that the 2016 Honda CBR1000RR will most likely get an aggressive front end design as showcased on the CBR 250RR concept that was showcased at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. The fairing design is appropriately more aerodynamic while the biggest change is the rear section with a sporty and petite looking tail section. The exhaust muffler continues to be close to the underbelly but have been redesigned with twin pipes peeking out.

The 2016 Honda CBR1000RR will be most likely powered by an all-new 1000cc displacement, in-line four motor pushing out close to 200PS to compete against its rivals. One of the biggest drawbacks of the current generation Fireblade is the lack of electronic safety bits on it and we can be rest assured that the upcoming bike will be loaded to the brim with it. We can expect the Honda CBR1000RR to get ride modes, multi-setting traction control system, slipper clutch, quickshifter and top notch ABS system. There are no fixed timeline set for the next generation CBR1000RR but expect it to debut in a concept form at least by mid-2016 with a possible launch by later this year or early 2017.
