The upcoming 2016 model of the Ducati Diavel has been spotted again, on test in Germany, Visordown has reported.
The major changes are the addition of a belt drive, instead of conventional chain drive and a new swingarm. The rear shock is a monoshock installed horizontally, just below the seat. Overall, the 2016 Ducati Diavel seems to have lost some weight too, and looks leaner and meaner in its new version.
The fuel tank, heavily camouflaged, has been reshaped to be slimmer and shorter than the one on the current bike and the footpegs have been shifted forward for a more cruiser-like feet-forward riding position.
The new Ducati Diavel also features Marzocchi forks, although Tenneco, Marzocchi’s parent company is expected to discontinue the brand by late 2015. So, expect some other high quality forks on the new Diavel. Ohlins already makes forks the Diavel, so the new 2016 model could well come equipped with Ohlins equipment instead of Marzocchi once production begins.
The engine on the new Diavel is expected to be borrowed from the Multistrada 1200’s Desmodromic Variable Timing (DVT) unit, which makes over 160PS of power and 136Nm of torque. The 2016 Ducati Diavel is expected to be unveiled at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, in November, as a 2016 model.
