A racing interpretation of the just-launched TVS Apache RTR 200, the edgy and futuristic X21 concept drew rave crowds at the TVS Motor stall

TVS Motor X21 concept

TVS Racing, the motorsports arm of TVS Motor, has been competing successfully in various forms of two-wheeled racing since 1983. Drawing upon this heritage, and with the roadgoing Apache RTR 200 as its base template, the TVS X21 concept has been unveiled at the Auto Expo.

Motive power comes from a bored-out 212.4 cc, fuel-injected, four valve 03C engine, tuned for high revs. Twin oil coolers provide a more efficient oil circulation and cooling system, while twin straight flow air filters contribute to cleaner combustion and twin free flow canisters discharge exhaust gases and produce the signature RTR grunt. Up front, suspension duties are handled by conventional telescopic forks, while a gas-charged  monoshock takes care of proceedings at the rear.

The instrument console on the X21 consists of a digital speedometer, digital tachometer, trip meter, clock, acceleration timing, and a lap timer.

A precursor to the TVS Apache RTR racebike that is coming to the next season of the One-Make Championships, the X21 concept has aggressive forward-biased ergonomics for a sporty riding posture. It also comes equipped with several race spec components such as a performance kit, race levers and steering damper for stability and control at higher speeds.

Looking more like a space age personal mobility concept than a race prototype, it will be long before a production version akin to the X21 shows up at a TVS Motor dealership. But, as a showcase for the company’s racing R&D, the X21 concept has more than done its job.
