The Platform: The Innova Crysta is built on Toyota new TNGA or Toyota New Global Architecture. The TNGA platform is a modular architecture that can be used to build any format of car and has also been used in the forthcoming Toyota Fortuner and the recently unveiled Prius. The new platform has helped Toyota to make the shell stiffer without compromising on safety and also reduce weight.
Space: The new Innova Crysta is considerably larger in dimensions compared to the current car. It measures 4,735mm in length, 1,830mm in width and is 1,795mm high. Even though the wheelbase has remained constant 2,750mm, it still translates to more in-cabin space especially in the rearmost bench. And with all rows up, there is still decent amount of luggage space in the boot.
It’s premium: There is no inkling of a doubt that the Innova Crysta when launched will be a premium offering. Everything from the massive chromed out front grille, the LED DRls and the sweptback headlamps to the leather upholstery, suede on the door panels and the good quality materials used in the cabin and the convenience features like a 7-inch infotainment system, climate control and one-touch folding seats, all confirm that the Innova Crysta is more personal and premium than the current car.
Safety: The Innova Crysta boasts of seven airbags, EBD, ABS, Hill Assist Control and Vehicle Stability Control. But all of this will come in the top of the line variants only. Although Toyota has announced that three airbags along with ABS will be provided as standard across the Crysta range.
Pricing: Considering the fact that the Innova Crysta will be a premium offering and taking into account all the safety and convenience features that the Crysta boasts of, it will be more expensive than the current car. In addition, Toyota will be targeting individual owners for the Crysta rather than fleet operators and could even sell the old Innova side by side at a lower price to ensure that the Crysta maintains its premium status.
