2016 Auto Expo: Tata lines up the Hexa, Tiago, Osprey and Sway (Zica Sedan) for the event

The Tata Motors pavilion at the upcoming 2016 Auto Expo will showcase different types of cars like the Tiago hatchback, the Sway (Tiago sedan) compact sedan, the Osprey compact SUV, and the Hexa crossover MUV.

Tata Motors will have on display the Hexa, successor to the Aria, at the 2016 Auto Expo. The Hexa was first unveiled at the previous 2014 Auto Expo. Tata has provided the Hexa with a fresh and aggressive design which hints at the new approach the manufacturer aims to take with its future cars. The changeover is not only restricted to the exteriors but under the hood as well. The Hexa will be powered by a new 2.2-litre unit punching out 156PS of power and impressive 400Nm of peak torque. With the Hexa, Tata aims to compete against the likes of the Toyota Innova and Mahindra XUV5OO.

The Tata Tiago, a new entry-level hatchback which replaced the Indica, will be on display for the public at the 2016 Auto expo. The Tiago has been built from the ground up and the manufacturer has put lots of efforts to deliver a very promising vehicle to its aspiring customers. The Tiago is powered by a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine which has been borrowed from the Bolt, but without the turbocharger. The engine is capable of producing 85PS of power and 114Nm of torque. The diesel variant, which will be opted for by the majority, is an all-new 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged engine which churns out 70PS of power and 140Nm of torque.

Based on the same platform of the Tiago, Tata has also been working on the sub 4-metre compact sedan and is likely to showcase that at the 2016 Auto Expo.

The Tata Osprey is the first compact SUV offering by the car maker. Based on the Nexon concept, the Osprey will be built on the same platform as the Bolt and Zest models. With the compact SUV market flourishing at a high rate, the Osprey will be Tata’s contribution to the same. The Osprey is likely to be powered by the 1.2-litre petrol Revotron engine and the 1.3-litre Multijet engine sourced from Fiat. Both the variants will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission while an AMT variant could also be provided when launched. On the price factor, the Tata Osprey is expected to carry a sticker price between Rs 6-8 lakh when launched. The Tata Osprey will compete against the Ford EcoSport, Mahindra TUV300, and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza in the Indian market.
