2016 Auto Expo: SIAM organizes 10th Styling and Design Conclave

The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) is a body of members who constitute of various personalities related to the automotive industry. SIAM has now organised the 10th Styling and Design Conclave which carried the central theme of ‘Design in India’. The Conclave provides an exclusive platform for various exhibitors and visitors to share their ideas. Influential automotive design professionals and other people related to the same field, belonging to the domestic as well as international brands were also present at the enclave. The gathering had the presence of various personalities as distinguished speakers which consisted of Rajeev Sharma, Head-Proto, Hero MotoCorp; Pratap Bose, Head of Design, Tata Motors; Gaurang Shah, HOD Transportation Design, MITID, Pune; Saurabh Singh, Head of Design Studio, Maruti Suzuki and Adil Jal Darukhanwala, Editor in Chief, Zeegnition.
 
“The Future is completely based on the innovation, we are becoming a trend setter with respect to the contributions made towards designing in vehicles that are being well accepted globally” said Rajiv Aggarwal, Joint Secretary DIPP, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India.

Vinod K Dasari, President, SIAM said, “ We are one of those countries which is the fastest growing & adapting nation with respect to style and design of the vehicle”. Dasari had also highlighted before manufacturing a vehicle various aspects like cost, safety and emission norms have to be considered.
 
Pratap Bose, Head of Design, Tata Motors said, “Designs have played a crucial role in bringing a change in the automotive Industry, India has a huge bunch of young talented designers who will shape the future of the designing in vehicles by bringing in innovative designs to cater the needs of the customer”
 
The 10th Styling and Design conclave had Mohd Basha, Advisor, TVS, presented with a cheque of Rs 10 lakh from SIAM for the clay modelling program and for his noteworthy contribution to the Indian Automotive Design. SIAM also provided immense encouragement for students to develop their inclination towards automotive styling.

The Automotive Design Challenge competition witnessed the participation of more than 100 students belonging to different colleges. Gaurav Nandi, student of MIT, bagged the award for the ‘Best Car Design’ and for his win was awarded a cheque of Rs 1 lakh. ‘EXTROSS’ is the concept model built by Nandi for the Automotive design Competition.
