Indian manufacturer keen on making a bigger name in the world championship

Mahindra Moto3 race bike

Over the past few years Mahindra has successfully etched its name in global motorcycle racing, with its presence in Moto3, the lowest class of the MotoGP world championship. The Indian manufacturer started off as a race team in 2011, though it stopped racing as a factory team in 2014 to become a manufacturer and supply race bikes to other teams on the Moto3 grid.

The manufacturer unveiled the latest version of its Moto3 bike, the MGP30 at the 2016 Auto Expo today. This is the very bike Mahindra Racing will be supplying to quite a few teams for the 2016 Moto3 championship. As is the norm with race machines, little is known about the latest MGP30 in terms of technical specifications except for it being powered by a 250cc, liquid-cooled single cylinder engine that is rumoured to make about 51PS of power. The weight of the motorcycle is a closely guarded secret as with most race bikes, but the MGP30 should have a kerb weight of just around 80kg, with a full tank of fuel. Mahindra will be fielding 10 bikes on the race grid with two factory teams.

Mahindra Formula E race car

Mahindra has enjoyed more success as manufacturer in Moto3 than it did as a race team, since the involvement with various race teams and their engineers, technicians and racers has helped Mahindra develop its race bikes much better than it did with its own team, and we hope it's road going machines benefit from its racing program too. In addition, Mahindra displayed its Formula E car which looked stunning in flesh and we will be seeing it in action at BIC later this month.
