Indian bike manufacturer Hero MotoCorp surely has a grand display at the ongoing 2016 Auto Expo. The manufacturer has unveiled four new bikes out of which few are expected to be introduced in the two-wheeler market soon. Showcasing the manufacturer’s interest towards eco-friendly methods, Hero had unveiled the Duet-E which is an electric scooter placed underneath the shell of the existing Hero Duet body.

The Hero Duet-E is powered solely by a 5KV brushless DC electric motor which is capable of generating peak torque of 14Nm. The Duet-E is claimed by the manufacturer to achieve acceleration of 0-60kmph in 6.5 seconds. The drive is powered by a long range lithium-ion battery. The company has not yet disclosed any figures regarding the top speed and the distance range. The instrumental cluster though has markings up to 70kmph which we doubt the Duet-E will be capable of achieving. The battery has been given the provision to be charged from a plug-in charger outlet. Other mechanical components like the brakes, suspension, wheels, and tyres have been borrowed front the Duet.

On the looks factor, the Duet-E highly resembles the gasoline powered version of the Duet. The Duet-E on display at the expo was painted in a dual-toned colour scheme of white and metallic grey with green graphics on the front and side panels on either side. The wheels also have green colour accents on the wheels. The rear fuel filling lid is replaced by the plug-in charging port.

Hero has also equipped the Duet-E electric scooter concept with anti-theft and bike finder system as additional features. The manufacturer has not disclosed any plans of launching the scooter yet.
