Ducati, the revered Italian marquee known for its exotic and jaw-droppingly gorgeous motorcycles, took a gamble when they introduced the comparatively less expensively Scrambler line-up last year. More than just a model variant, the Scrambler has been positioned as a completely new brand, and so, it has a lot to live up to. And, as the 2015 Times Auto Awards powered by ZigWheels so conclusively proves, the Scrambler has done it, winning our Premium Bikes (below 10 lakh) award in style.
This category has seen great vigor in the last few years, with the rise of disposable income and affluent young men in the country. Last year alone, we had the Honda CBR650F, the Benelli TNT600i and TNT600GT twins, and the TNT899 duking it out in the segment.
With a sticker price of Rs 6.38 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Scrambler severely undercuts its rivals by a big margin, not to mention that it looks totally different from the norm. Powered by the same 803cc L-twin unit as the one on the Monster 795, it makes about 76PS of power and 68Nm of torque, which means it is as fun on the road as it is on your wallet.
Huge congratulations to Ducati India for winning the 2015 Times Auto Awards powered by ZigWheels in the Premium Bikes (below 10 lakh) category.
