With the likes of the Audi S5 Sportback, the BMW X5M, the Mini Cooper S, the Volvo V40, the Audi RS6 Avant and the Abarth 595 also staking a claim for the top accolade in this category, it was a tough task for our judges to choose a winner in this category. But finally, it was the Mercedes-AMG C63 that claimed the top sport in the Import Car of the year category of the 2015 Times Auto awards powered by ZigWheels
And why not; with a 4.0-litre V8 bi-turbo under the hood, the C63 S AMG has emulated its by its 6.2-litre naturally aspirated predecessor with aplomb. At 510 horses and 700Nm, the 2015 C63 S produces more power and torque than its predecessor. This unit is effectively two engines of the A45 AMG under one hood.
Along with an energetic engine, the C63 also boasts of aggressive looks and decent handling dynamics. What really impressed the judges was also the fact that it strikes the right balance between elegance and aggression, luxury and performance.
There were doubts about how the car will fare in India, but it has proved itself by emerging as the top Import Car of the Year at the 2015 Times Auto awards powered by ZigWheels.
