Volvo has released its first official interior pictures of the all-new 2015 XC90 SUV. The new Volvo XC90 is set for an August reveal and will make its way to India by early next year. The Volvo XC90 is said to stick to Volvo’s design principles while bringing the brand into a new design language, a direction that is quite obvious when one takes a look at the interiors.

Volvo XC90 Interior control knob

The most luxurious Volvo interior ever, the new XC90 sticks to Volvo’s uncluttered and simplistic interior design like in the past. As compared to the highly cluttered interiors offered in most German brands, the Volvo approach on the other hand is a singular large touch screen and just a few essential buttons instead. The XC90 will adopt an iDrive type control scroller which will help the driver control the car’s settings. In fact, the interior configuration, with its tablet like centre console reminds us of the Tesla Model S.

Volvo XC90 Interior Seats

To add a touch of luxury, the Volvo XC90 will be offered with a combination of leather and wood with a seven-seat configuration as standard. The XC90 will be offered with a gear level manufactured out of crystal glass made by Swedish glassmaker Orrefors and diamond cut buttons for the start/stop and volume controls. The Volvo XC90 will be equipped with Apple’s CarPlay system with voice recognition and a four-zone climate control.

Volvo promises that the XC90 will be comfortable in all rows of seats with the third row large enough to carry passengers that are as tall as 5.5-feet extremely comfortably and still have enough storage space for each passenger. The Volvo XC90 could very well kickstart Volvo’s fortunes in India and in other countries that have never generally been strong markets for Volvo. Volvo wants to move up the luxury ladder with the new XC90 to take on the likes of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and will therefore price the new XC90 higher than the current model.
