2015 McLaren Sports Series teased

McLaren has confirmed that its latest model, previously referred to only by its internal codename ‘P13’, will be known as the McLaren Sports Series. It will join the range below the McLaren 650S, and will mark the British carmaker’s foray into the sportscar segment.

The Sports Series borrows a number of styling cues from the McLaren P1. The camouflage hides a lot of details, but we can see that the car receives an aggressive front bumper, a sculpted hood and LED headlights, aerodynamic side skirts, and P1-inspired mirrors.

The British carmaker has been tight-lipped about the specifications, but has recently revealed that the model will feature a carbon fibre chassis. Power will, reportedly, come from a detuned version of the company’s 3.8-litre V8 twin-turbocharged engine churning out around 450PS of power.

The model will be introduced in the second quarter of 2015, and McLaren states that it will bring ‘the company’s credentials and exclusivity to the sportscar segment for the first time.’
