2015 Lamborghini Huracan LP 620-2 Super Trofeo unveiled

Lamborghini has uncaged its new beast, the Lamborghini Huracan LP 620-2 Super Trofeo, at the Quail Motorsports Gathering in California.  The Quail Motorsports Gathering is an annual automotive event which brings together a fascinating mix of the newest hypercars nestled against the rarest classics of yesteryear.

Commenting on this occasion, Maurizio Reggiani, Board Member and Director of Research and Development for Automobili Lamborghini, said, “The Huracán Super Trofeo marks a new benchmark for the race series. It is an all-new car built from scratch with a clear racing concept. We believe the car will be as fun for fans to watch as it will be rewarding for our racers to drive.”

The redesigned 2015 Super Trofeo hypercar has been co-developed with Dallara Engineering with direct input from Giampaolo Dallara who also was involved in the making of the legendary Lamborghini Miura. This track-only Huracan gets an aggressive body kit, ventilated front fenders, a rear wing, a massive diffuser and a centre-mounted dual exhaust system. The Huracan Super Trofeo will be exclusively-equipped with Pirelli tyres engineered specifically for this application.

A 5.2-litre V10 engine will run under the hood of the 2015 Lamborghini Huracan LP 620-2 Super Trofeo to produce 611PS of power. Power will be sent exclusively to the rear wheels. With a number of weight saving exercises undertaken by the Italian carmaker, this vehicle is 151kg lighter than the Huracan and now weighs at 1,271kg with a weight/power ratio of 2.04kg/PS.

The Italian carmaker has also showcased its Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 in a new version by Ad Personam at the 2014 Quail Motorsports Gathering. Ad Personam allows clients to specify their Lamborghini’s materials, custom colours, interior and exterior trim. The Aventador LP 700-4 Ad Personam features semi-aniline leather, Alcantara, Lamborghini’s Forged Composite carbon fibre material and custom stitching.
