What is it?

The older generation Honda Jazz is among the most undertreated cars to be launched in our country. Despite its great design, good driving dynamics, fantastic interior pace and impressive build quality, the Jazz wasn’t able to capture the imagination of the Indian buyers. Among the main reasons for its failure can be credited to the fact that it was priced on the higher side and it didn’t have a diesel option. With the new Honda Jazz, the Japanese carmaker plans to rectify the mistakes of the older car and is among the most important new car launches of 2015. 

What’s under the hood?

The new Honda Jazz will be offered with both petrol and diesel options in India. The 1.5-litre diesel powerplant is the same unit as seen on the Honda Amaze and City which is good enough to pump out 100PS of power and 200Nm of peak torque. The petrol variant of the new Honda Jazz will house a 1.2-litre i-VTEC mill producing 90PS of power and 115Nm of maximum torque. This makes the petrol variant of the new Honda Jazz the most powerful car in its segment. The new Honda Jazz will also offer an automatic transmission. 

How much will it cost?

Honda has achieved close to 90 per cent localisation for the new Jazz as it shares most of its components with the Honda City sedan. This will enable the Japanese four-wheeler giant to price the hatchback competitively. It is expected that the all new Honda Jazz will carry a sticker price of around Rs 6-8.5 lakh (ex-showroom).

When can I buy it?

The all new Honda Jazz will be launched on July 8th in India. ZigWheels has driven the car in Goa and the review and other details regarding the car will be live on our website soon. Booking for the 2015 Honda Jazz is expected to commence by later this month and deliveries of the car will start soon after the car gets officially launched.

How about interiors? 

On the interior front, the all new Honda Jazz borrows the City’s well styled and luxurious dashboard in totality. The large central screen combined with the touchscreen AC controls and the start-stop button will also make an appearance on the new Jazz. Compared to the earlier Jazz, the increased interior room and visibility create a sense of airy spaciousness, which is complemented by upgraded, soft-touch materials that raise the feeling of quality. Also the wheelbase of 2,500mm means that the new Jazz will have a spacious cabin and it will also boast the highest boot space in its segment. 

What about mileage?

Honda hasn’t given out any fuel efficiency figures for the all new Jazz yet but it will be safe to assume that the 1.2-litre petrol motor will deliver around 21kmpl (ARAI claimed). The 2015 Honda Jazz will have a claimed mileage of 27kmpl. This makes the new Honda Jazz diesel the most fuel efficient car in its segment. 

Anything else?

The new Honda Jazz would have the most powerful diesel engine in its segment and its competitors will be the Volkswagen Polo, Fiat Punto, Hyundai Elite i20, and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki YRA. Talking about safety, the all new Honda Jazz will sport standard features like seat-belt pretensioners, central locking, central locking and child-lock. The top-spec variant of the 2015 Honda Jazz will be loaded with features like air bags, ABS and EBD (electronic brake force distribution) might be optional.
