2015 Ford Figo spotted testing in India

Ford is busy testing its forthcoming new car – the 2015 Ford Figo in India. Known as the Ford Ka in the Brazilian market, this forthcoming new car will replace the current Ford Figo once it hits the Indian shores.

The test mule is seen sporting an Aston Martin-like grille, fog lamps, wing mirrors, alloy wheels, non body-coloured door handles, a rear wiper and an integrated rear spoiler. The new car is expected to come with both petrol and diesel engine options. A 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine and a 1.5-litre four-cylinder oil burner is expected to do duty under the hood of this new car.

The American carmaker will also launch the compact sedan version of the Figo to go up against the likes of other market players such as Maruti and Honda that have ruled the market with their offerings - the Maruti Swift Dzire and the Honda Amaze.

Carmakers such as Hyundai and Tata have recently joined the bandwagon with their models, the Hyundai Xcent and the Tata Zest. With the new generation Figo hatchback and compact sedan heading our way, Ford will be phasing out the current Figo and might also eventually phase out the Ford Fiesta Classic sedan from the market.

The new Ford Figo sedan and hatchback are expected to be rolled out from Ford’s new plant in Sanand in Gujarat. Ford is also readying the next-gen Endeavour SUV for India which is also expected to be launched this year.
