We bring you updates on all the action that took place on the first day of the on-going 2014 India Bike Week in Goa

HOG riders entering the venue

The first day of the 2014 India Bike Week 2014 edition couldn’t have asked for a better opening. As around 700 Harley-Davidson owners, who were part of the second edition of the India HOG rally entered the arena. It was a spectacle to behold for the enthusiast gathered at the venue as bikers on their prized possessions entered the venue with a cloud of dust being kicked from the pipes of their V-twin engines. The crowd were amazed at the sheer amount of Harley-Davidson’s which turned out at the venue and it was hard to believe that we were in India as such scenes are usually witnessed in USA or Europe. Apart from the sea of Harley’s there were a plethora of superbikes from various Japanese and European bike manufacturers on display.

Legendary motorcycle tourers like Ted Simon, Sam Childers & Nick Sanders were at the IBW, who shared their eventful stories and gave biking tips to the bikers and fans got an opportunity to interact with them. One of the highlights of the day was the Bike Build Off showcase, which had seven motorcycles on display shortlisted from all around the country and the bike builders would fight it out for the Build off title. Each of the shortlisted bikes kept on display had intricate details and people awed by the skill and creativity of the builders. Another major draw was the Bike Burn Outs and Loudest Bike Competition which enthralled the crowds. Scott Redding, who was the runner-up in 2013 season of Moto2 and now part of MotoGP from the 2014 season was also present at the venue and interacted with the crowd on his maiden visit to India and as a parting gift did a smoking burn out on the stage to the delight of the audience.

In the evening the Harley-Davidson Street 750 was also officially unveiled for the first time in our country and also three custom bikes based on the Street 750 were also on display. To boost the dwindling energy levels of the crowd in the evening came out international motocross jump riders, who with their gravity defying jumps and backflips gave the crowd a shot of adrenaline as they couldn’t stop cheering for them. Later in the night it was the time for live Bands & DJs to showcase their skills and the crowd danced away merrily as the first day came to an entertaining end.
