After the global launch of the new Range Rover, Land Rover is prepping for unveil of the new Range Rover Sport. Based on the Range Rover’s underpinnings, the Range Rover Sport is expected to weigh 300 kgs less than the current version making it a more dynamic proposition. The entry-level engine option is a new-generation 258PS V6 oil-burner that churns out 599Nm of torque. The V8 supercharged petrol behemoth will produce  a massive 511PS of power and 625Nm of torque. The hybrid version in the V6 diesel is also expected to be another option. Combined, the diesel hybrid will produce 338PS of power and three digit speeds achieved in 7.4 seconds.

In terms of design, like the earlier generations, the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport have a lot in common such as the raked windscreen and doors. However, some very minor attention to detail differentiates the Range Rover Sport as a more dynamic package. The bonnet tapers in sharper with the roofline sloping more aggressively towards the tailgate. The rear overhang is also shorter offering a more forward and aggressive stance. Larger door sills and thicker doors also add to the dynamism of the SUV.

The inside also has a more sporty design. The dashboard and centre console is raked more than the Range Rover, however, most of the switchgear is shared. Like the Jaguar F-type, the SUV also gets an upright automatic shift lever. Overall, the inside would be offered in a number of luxury levels with added dash of sportiness to the cabin.

As for the Indian buyer, the Range Rover Sport is expected to ‘land up’ in all engine and luxury options, even the hybrid. However, the news would be official at the global launch next year.
