After months of speculation and rumour, Yamaha has confirmed that it will launch the next generation of its flagship litre-class offering at the 2014 EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, Italy. For this purpose it has releases a teaser video of the 2015 Yamaha R1. According to trademark applications filed by the Japanese two-wheeler giant, the 2015 Yamaha R1 will be available in two variants. The street version of the 2015 Yamaha R1 is expected to push out around 200PS of peak power whereas the track version of the bike will be churning out almost 230PS of maximum power.
It is also expected that the next generation Yamaha R1 will be equipped with a dual-clutch gearbox derived from the seamless transmission as seen on the Yamaha M1 MotoGP machine. The main focus on the teaser video is the all-colour TFT digital display as seen on the Ducati 1199 Panigale. From the console it is clear that the 2015 Yamaha R1 will have power modes and rider modes similar to the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R. Other electronic goodies include a three-step traction control system, G force indicator while accelerating and braking, adjustable ABS system and launch control system.
It is also expected that the 2015 Yamaha R1 will be equipped with an electronically adjustable suspension system. While braking system will be sourced from Nissin and it will sport a single-sided swingarm, a first for any Yamaha R1 offering. The 2015 Yamaha R1 will be a technological tour-de-force and more details on the bike will be revealed when the bike debuts at 2014 EICMA next month. So we can expect a Japanese showdown in Italy as Kawasaki will also unveil the street version of the H2R. For motorcycle enthusiasts from the Land of the Rising Sun, well, the good times are about to start.
