Honda has released a sketch of the FCEV concept that will debut next week at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show.

The Japanese giant says that the concept expresses a potential styling direction for Honda’s next-generation fuel-cell electric vehicle (FCEV). The car will be launched in the US and Japan in 2015 and later in Europe.

“The Honda FCEV Concept demonstrates the company’s vision for the future of personal mobility and our commitment to developing advanced alternative fuel vehicles,” said Mike Accavitti, Honda America’s senior vice president. “As we work toward the introduction of our next-generation fuel-cell vehicle in 2015, our long-term experience with fuel-cell technologies will help us pave a way towards a zero-emissions future,” he added.

It’s interesting to see Honda split up it unveils between the LA auto show and the Tokyo Motor Show as the schedules clash. The US is a large alternate fuel market and thus the FCEV concept fits well for a US unveiling. Cars like the Honda City and Mobilio are more in line with Asian tastes and thus are better suited for the Tokyo Motor Show.
