Toyota's domestic sales rise in February to 11,802 units. With teasers and spy images of the new Fortuner and Innova doing the rounds, we expect a stronger sales year ahead for Toyota

Toyota Sales for February 2015

Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s domestic car sales are up 17 percent in February 2015. The Japanese carmaker sold 11,802 units last month compared to 10,110 units in the corresponding period last year. Despite the budget not being a favourable one, sales have increased for Toyota. This augurs well for the car maker as the next generation Fortuner and Innova are coming next, both high number churners for the company.

Mr. N Raja, Director and Senior Vice - President, Sales and Marketing said “The growth wave continues this month as well, with TKM registering 17% growth.”

Commenting on the budget he added “It is a positive budget that caters to individuals as well as corporates. We are happy with the reduction of custom duty on raw materials/components. However, we were hoping to receive a reduction in the excise duty as well which would have further facilitated the industry to get back on the trajectory path. As a part of the budget the Government will allocate funds for the development of greener electric cars, we will study this in detail to understand its implication on developing alternative fuel vehicles and promoting hybrid as a technology in India”.

The Etios series is also exported by Toyota. The company managed to ship 1,478 units last month making the cumulative sales total of 13,280 in February 2015 compared to 11,286 units in February 2014.
