Toyota sees high demand in the final month of the financial year as it sells 14,623 units

Toyota March 2015 sales

Toyota has reported a 62.15 per cent increase in total sales in March 2015. With a total of 14,623 units last month including exports, the company sold over 6,500 units more than the same period last year. In March 2014, Toyota had managed to sell only 9,018 units.

Exports aren’t a large contribution for Toyota yet but the Etios series continues to ship out over 1,000 units every month. Last month, 1,290 units were exported. Domestic sales as a result stand at 13,333 units as against 8,206 units in March 2014.

Toyota Kirloskar Director and Senior Vice - President, Sales and Marketing N Raja said: "Riding on new launches we continue to register a double-digit growth this month as well."

Toyota continues to sell the Innova is large numbers despite the product being considerably pricier compared to its competition. The Innova clocks consistent sales of over 5,000 units every month. It is due for a replacement by the end of this year so expect the sales momentum to continue.

The Fortuner is the best seller in its segment by a huge margin. Around 70 percent of the large SUV market is controlled by the Fortuner and it is due for a replacement too. While both these products are huge successes in India, Toyota has managed to turn around fortunes of the slow selling Etios series too after the introduction of the Etios Cross. While the company doesn’t release individual model figures, the high cumulative sales numbers indicate a bigger contribution from the Etios series.
