India's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki sells more cars cumulatively this financial year with one month to go than the entire FY 2013-14

Maruti sales rise 8.2 percent in February 2015

There is no stopping Maruti Suzuki in the month of February. The company sold a total of 107,892 units last month in the domestic market, a growth of 8.2 percent to the same period last year. This year, the company has already sold over 1.06 million units, more than the entire previous financial year. Total domestic growth this financial year stands at 12.1 percent.

What is surprising is that of all the segments Maruti Suzuki has its products in, its strongest – the premium compact segment has seen a dip in numbers last month. Cumulatively, sales of the Swift, Ritz, Celerio and Dzire fell 6.4 percent. Sales of the small compact car segment which includes the Alto and Wagon R is again up by 7.1 percent.

The Ciaz is back to selling well for Maruti. In February, 5410 units of the Ciaz were delivered. The Ertiga too is going strong with rising sales to the tune of 12.1 percent to the corresponding period last year.

Exports grew 14 percent too in February 2015 for Maruti Suzuki. February shipments stood at 10,659 units compared to 9346 units in February 2014. Meanwhile total sales (domestic and export) for Maruti in this financial year is on the verge of 1.2 million units.
